Quick answer: Put your name, the exact job title you are targeting, UAE contact details, LinkedIn and languages at the top, add residency and availability only where they help you, and open with a summary of your three strongest results. Write each role as a measured result using the X-Y-Z formula, put a yearly money figure on it where your role touches money, and name the major employers and brands you worked with. There is no fixed UAE length: your master resume can run longer than the version you send, as long as the most relevant experience is easy to find.
It is easy to write a resume that is accurate and still undersells you. The employer everyone knows gets left off, "helped with" replaces the result you delivered, and a long career is squeezed onto one page because someone said that was the rule. This guide covers what to include in a UAE resume and how to write it so your real experience shows. It is written for your master resume, the version you would tailor for each application.
Why a modest resume can cost you
A hiring manager can only weigh what is on the page. Huntr's Q2 2026 analysis of tailored resumes reports that resumes linked to interviews tended to be detailed and specific about numbers and outcomes.

In the Middle East, a Robert Walters survey published on 2 June 2025 found that 44% of hiring managers named a lack of relevant experience as their main reason for rejecting an application. The survey page does not state how many people responded, so treat the percentage as indicative.
Listings also ask about experience directly. In 1000Jobs' UAE Job Listings Report for September 2026, covering listings collected 1 to 30 September, 4,943 of 10,345 listings (47.8%) mentioned an experience requirement, and among the 5,131 that stated a number of years, 3 to 5 years was the most common ask, at 2,041 (39.8%).
None of these findings proves that an undersold resume causes a rejection. Our reading is narrower: if a hiring manager is looking for relevant experience and your resume hides it, they cannot credit it.
What should I put at the top of a UAE resume?
Put your full name, the exact job title of the role you are targeting, a UAE mobile number with the +971 code, a professional email, your city, your LinkedIn URL and your languages at the top, so a recruiter sees who you are and where you are based within a few seconds. Use the job title exactly as the advert words it, as long as it is true to your experience, and change it for each role you tailor for. Add one line for residency and availability only if it helps you.

Here is an example header, line by line:
- [Full name], then [Exact target job title]
- [+971 mobile] | [Professional email] | [City], UAE | [LinkedIn URL]
- Languages: English (fluent), Arabic (conversational), Hindi (native)
- Golden Visa Holder | Immediate Joiner
If you hold a UAE driving licence, consider adding it: in the same report, 519 of 10,345 listings (5.0%) mentioned one.
Should I put languages on my UAE resume?
Yes. List the languages you speak in your header with an honest level, such as fluent, conversational or basic, and only those you could use at work. About one listing in five mentions a language requirement: in the same report, 2,136 of 10,345 listings (20.6%) did. For how language skills show up in UAE roles, see whether you need Arabic for UAE jobs.
Should I put my visa status and availability on my resume?
Only when it helps you. If you hold a Golden Visa, or any status that means a new employer has little or no visa sponsorship to arrange, say so in the header, and add "Immediate joiner" if you can start straight away. Otherwise, such as with a visit visa or a 60-day notice period, you need not lead with it.
Most listings do not say who provides the visa. In the same report, 291 of 10,345 listings (2.8%) said the employer provides it, 55 (0.5%) required your own and 9,999 (96.7%) did not say, so a clear residency line saves a recruiter a question.
Put a notice period in the footer instead, for example "Notice period: 30 days". Leaving a line off means a recruiter who wants that detail has to ask, so only omit it if you are comfortable with that. Your resume is also not an application form: employers can configure screening questions about work authorisation, location or availability, so answer those accurately, as we explain in how applicant tracking systems screen applications. Choosing what to emphasise is fine. Misstating your status is not.
Should I put a photo on a UAE resume?
A professional photo is acceptable on a UAE resume, and it is your choice. This is our editorial view, as we found no primary source that sets a rule either way. If you include one, keep it plain and professional, and leave passport and Emirates ID numbers off any resume you send out.
How do I write a resume summary for UAE jobs?
Open your summary with your job title, years of experience and your three strongest results, each with a number. A simple pattern is: [Job title] with [years] years in [sector or region]. Delivered [result 1], [result 2] and [result 3].
An illustrative example, with made-up figures: "Senior client-partnerships leader with 12+ years of experience in digital advertising across the Gulf. Delivered 24% incremental revenue growth in the technology sector, lifted client campaign activity by 15 to 35% and improved campaign margins by 38%."
Concrete figures matter here. In Huntr's Q2 2026 data, summaries containing a dollar amount had a 7.24% recorded interview rate (1,018 resumes), against 4.13% for summaries with no digits (2,250 resumes). That is an association in a mostly North American sample, not proof that a figure causes interviews, and it measured dollar amounts, not AED. Use a currency figure where you have one, annualised if it recurs, and a percentage, team size or volume where you do not.
Note: each job role needs its own summary, so a tailored resume carries a different one for every role. If writing them by hand sounds like too much work, 1000Jobs writes the summary for you, tailored to the role and built only from your master resume. How do I write each role on a UAE resume?
Write each bullet as a result: what you achieved, how it was measured and what you did to get there. Laszlo Bock, then Google's senior vice president of people operations, set this out in a 2014 LinkedIn post, as reported by Business Insider India, as "Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]". It is one expert's advice, not outcome data, and is often called Google's X-Y-Z formula.

The examples below are illustrative. The figures are made up to show the format and are not real results.
Basic: "Responsible for looking after technology-sector clients."
Stronger: "Grew technology-sector revenue by 24% by entering two new markets and adding three products to the client offer."
X is the revenue growth, Y is 24% and Z is the new markets and added products. Add a period and a starting point, such as "over [period]", to make it stronger still.
If you have no figures yet, describe scale (team size, volume, frequency, budget or turnaround) and use only numbers you can explain in an interview. For prompts on where to find numbers, see the metrics list in our resume tailoring guide.
How do I put a money figure on it and annualise it?
Say how much you saved, generated or managed, and show it as a yearly figure when it recurs: multiply a monthly figure by 12, a weekly figure by 52 and a quarterly figure by 4.
Two cases need care:
- Percentage result: apply it to the annual base. A 5% cut on an annual budget of AED [budget] is AED [budget x 0.05] a year.
- One-off result: do not annualise it. Give the total and the period.
Here is an illustration with made-up numbers, not a real result. A change that cuts vendor costs by AED 12,000 a month saves AED 144,000 a year (12,000 x 12).
Basic: "Helped reduce vendor costs."
Stronger: "Reduced vendor costs by AED 144,000 a year (AED 12,000 a month) by [what you did]."
Say whether the figure is revenue, a saving or profit. If you only have a few months of results, say so and call the yearly figure a run-rate, for example "AED [amount] in [number] months, an annual run-rate of AED [amount]".
Should I name the employers and brands I worked with?
Yes. Name the employer in every role and, where you are allowed to, the brands or clients you worked on, because a recognisable name tells a reader the scale and context of your work in two words. Do not leave it off out of modesty. The examples above leave names out, but on your own resume they should be there.
Skip any client you are contractually barred from naming and describe it instead, for example "a global consumer goods company". Be accurate about who employed you: if you worked at an agency on a client's account, name the agency as your employer and the client as the account.
How long should a resume be in the UAE?
There is no single number for how long a UAE resume should be, and we could not find a verified UAE rule. The closest data comes from Huntr's Q2 2026 analysis, where mid-career resumes of two or more pages had a 5.83% recorded interview rate against 2.81% for one page, while early-career resumes went the other way, 6.94% against 9.25%. That data leans towards North American roles, with 60.0% of the 61,755 jobs that carried a country in North America, so it describes that market more than the UAE. The one-page groups were also small.
In our internal testing, what mattered more than length was the candidate's experience, the keywords on the resume and whether it covers what the employer is asking for. That fits Huntr's own conclusion: match length to substance. Do not compress real work to hit a page, and do not pad thin experience to reach another.
That is where a master resume helps. It can be as long as your experience requires, because it is a record, not a submission. The version you send should be shorter and chosen for the role, as set out in our resume tailoring guide.
Master resume checklist
Before you save your master resume, check that it does the following:
- Header: name, exact target job title, +971 mobile, email, city, LinkedIn and languages with your level. Residency and availability appear only where they help, and a notice period sits in the footer if needed.
- Summary: your title, years of experience and three results with numbers.
- Every role: employer named, job title, city and dates, with results written as X-Y-Z wherever you can, and scale shown where figures are thin.
- Money: where your role touches money, what you saved, generated or managed, shown per year when it recurs.
- Brands: major employers and clients named, except where you are not allowed to.
- Honesty: for every number, you can explain how it was measured.
How do I turn my master resume into a tailored resume for each role?
Once your master resume holds your full experience, the next job is choosing the right parts of it for each application. Our resume tailoring guide sets this out in six steps, and our internal testing puts it at 20 to 30 minutes per application by hand.
Here is what that adds up to if you tailor every application yourself, using the low and high end of that range:
- 10 applications: 200 to 300 minutes, or 3 hours 20 minutes to 5 hours.
- 20 applications: 400 to 600 minutes, or 6 hours 40 minutes to 10 hours.
- Your own number: time one tailored resume, multiply it by the roles you plan to apply for, and divide by 60 to get hours.
With 1000Jobs, you upload your master resume once, and for each role you apply to, it creates a tailored, ATS-friendly resume from your experience and that job description. Every tailored resume is built only from your master resume. We don't invent experience, employers or figures, so whatever you put in your master resume is what each tailored version draws on, and anything you leave out stays out. Make sure your master resume includes your full, detailed experience and the things highlighted here, from a complete header to measured results and named employers and brands. We handle the formatting, keyword optimisation and tailoring for each role. By ATS-friendly we mean a clear structure, conventional headings, selectable text and accurate dates, as described in our guide to how applicant tracking systems work. It does not guarantee an interview or change how any employer screens applications.
If you want more hands-on help, 1000Jobs also has a premium plan. It gives you priority applications, same-day applications to roles you have swiped to apply for, and help with resume enhancements like the ones in this guide. See the premium plan.
Method and limits
This is a research-led guide. It draws on a published Huntr report, a Robert Walters Middle East survey, press coverage of Bock's formula and 1000Jobs listing figures, each checked on 13 October 2026.
- Huntr: Its figures describe its own users. Interview flags are self-reported, comparisons are unadjusted associations, 60.0% of the 61,755 Q2 jobs with a country were in North America, and the sample leans towards technology roles.
- 1000Jobs listing figures: They come from our UAE Job Listings Report for September 2026: listings collected 1 to 30 September 2026, data as of 1 October 2026, one record per application URL. They show what listing text mentions, not what recruiters screen on or hiring outcomes. Collection was interrupted for part of September, so shares can move with the source mix, and one month is a weak basis for a lasting claim.
- Robert Walters: The survey page gives no sample size or method, so treat the figure as indicative.
- UAE conventions: Our advice on photos, languages, residency lines and notice periods is editorial judgement. We found no UAE primary source that sets these conventions or links resume length to interview outcomes.
- Internal testing: The 20 to 30 minutes per application, and the finding that experience, keywords and coverage of what the employer wants mattered more than length, come from 1000Jobs' internal testing, not an independent study. We have not published the method, sample size or what we measured, and your results will differ.
- Product description: We publish this guide, so read the parts that describe 1000Jobs and its premium plan as a product description, not independent evidence.

Frequently asked questions
How long should a resume be in the UAE?
There is no single number, and we could not find a verified UAE rule. Huntr's Q2 2026 data, which leans towards North American roles, showed the page-count pattern running in opposite directions for different groups. In our internal testing, experience, keywords and coverage of what the employer wants mattered more than length, so match length to substance and keep the relevant experience easy to find.
Do you need a photo on a resume in Dubai?
A professional photo is acceptable and your choice. This is our editorial view, as we found no primary source setting a rule. If you include one, keep it plain and professional.
Should I put my visa status on my resume in the UAE?
Include residency when it helps, for example a Golden Visa or another status that means little sponsorship to arrange. If it does not help, you can leave it out of the header, but answer accurately whenever an application or recruiter asks.
What can I put on my resume if my role has no numbers?
Describe scale: team size, volume, frequency, budget or turnaround. Use honest estimates you can explain in an interview.
Should I list every job on a UAE resume?
Your master resume can include everything. For each application, send a shorter version with the most relevant roles easy to see. Our internal testing puts that at 20 to 30 minutes per application by hand, and 1000Jobs can prepare a tailored version for each role from your master resume.
How do I annualise a saving or revenue figure on my resume?
Multiply a recurring monthly figure by 12 (weekly by 52, quarterly by 4), or apply a percentage to the annual base. Only annualise what genuinely recurs, say whether it is revenue, a saving or profit, and be able to show the working. If you only have a few months of results, state the period and call the yearly figure a run-rate.
